I had a great time Monday getting together with a couple of former students from the CCA at Saylor’s Restaurant in Sausalito. Sean Saylor, (with the beard) was the Daniel Carlisle Walker Award winner for the April 1997 graduating class. He brought out his album of pictures and we got to reminisce about those days. Here I am carving a Pillsbury DoughBoy, (their request) in the Garde Manger kitchen.
I’m amazed by the talent of those whom I have taught, Sean is an amazing chef entrepreneur and owns Saylor’s Restaurant and Bar, Cabo Wabo which he started 13 years ago. Yet, he calls me “the Master”, it funny how perceptions change when seen through other’s eyes. Check out his place! Facebook| Website
Here are the finished pictures, one frosty just out of the freezer the other after the ice cleared
Left to Right, Yours Truly, Chef Leo Koellner, (unknown grad), and Sean Saylor emeritus. Chef Leo is an Austrian trained Chef and Garde Manger Chef extraordinaire, he was instrumental in starting the Max’s Opera Café chain of bars and eateries in San Francisco, he is also amazing with a chainsaw on ice!---Enjoy!
